1. Mission
The mission of the Master programme of Applied Biology has both a didactic function, training teachers in the area of Biological sciences for secondary education, as well as a research function. The competences acquired by graduates along the 2 year-programme also enables them to integrate in the socio-economic environment as researchers in various biology-related fields or as biologists in various institutions (such as environmental agencies, plant protection inspection bureaux, sanitary or food processing units, museums, zoological gardens, animal farms, agricultural farms, etc). The knowledge and competences acquired by graduates will enable them to meet European-level requirements in the institutions or structures they will work for.
2. Objectives
- Acquiring and developing specialised knowledge related to the field of study.
- Explaining and interpreting phenomena and biological processes in different contexts related to the field of study.
- Using the assessment criteria and methods of biological systems with the purpose of identifying theoretical or practical applied solutions.
- Evaluating strategies for approaching new situations related to the field of study, integrating specific concepts and methodologies in
- an inter/trans-disciplinary manner.
- Applying quantitative and qualitative methods creatively for the development of research and/or professional projects.
- Accomplishing professional projects efficiently, in compliance with moral values and professional deontological ethics.
- Developing professional communication skills and the capacity to integrate in interdisciplinary work-teams.
- Developing self-assessment abilities in relation to professional activities and identifying means of professional improvement.
